Clear Roads Allow Skiers and Non Skiers Alike To Escape to Oregon’s “Mountain Home”

Early winter can be the perfect time to enjoy the spirit and ambiance of Timberline lodge. While visitors need to be prepared for winter driving, these days, the current mild weather pattern is providing an opportunity for clear roads and smooth sailing to the lodge.

The Palmer Snowfield is open 7 days a week (weather permitting) for experienced skiers and snowboarders, but non skiers are also finding this early winter season to be a wonderful time to simply visit the lodge, spend the night, swim in the heated outdoor pool, cozy up by the fireplace, enjoy a meal in the renown Cascade Dining Room, or perhaps a libation in the main lobby’s picturesque Rams Head Bar.

“Timberline Lodge is a place to connect with nature, and with friends and family, and it is a place that is near and dear to the people of the Northwest.” comments Jon Tullis, Timberline’s Director of Public Affairs. “We are not an exclusive resort. First and foremost, Timberline is the people’s place. They find inspiration here, a sense of belonging, a sense of refuge, a grounding. It reminds them of what it means to live in this part of the world.”

While the ski area waits for Mother Nature to bring more snow to the lower slopes, visitors can currently find a trace of snow outside the doors of the lodge. Inside, folks will find magnificent architecture, old world quality arts and crafts, a roaring fireplace, a gift shop and gallery, delicious food and beverage, and genuine hospitality. Now a National Historic Landmark, Timberline Lodge was built “by the people, for the people.” That’s why the folks at Timberline consider the lodge to be “every Oregonian’s mountain home.”
