Race Distance: TBD
Course Description:

*We are currently working on a new course option that weather permitting will allow us to have a more dynamic race day! The course description below is what we will use if conditions do not permit the new course concept.

The race will start promptly at 11:00 a.m. on the east side of Timberline Lodge The starting line is where the groomed snowshoe trails begin. Skiers will start off following the groomed trail as the field separates out into their ability and rate of travel groupings. After this starting traverse and a short climb, racers will descend into the climber’s gully and ascend approximately .25 of a mile to a short boot pack segment out of the gully. This ascent will be a safe distance down the gully from the major cornice as determined by NWAC and head of ski patrol. You will ascend towards the Silcox Hut. All skiers will need to reach the Silcox hut by the 2:00 cut off time or they will be directed west on a relatively on-contour traverse to the area boundary. There, skiers will descend Coffel’s Run to the top of Stormin Norman Lift and follow Lodge Getback run to the finish line directly in front of the Timberline Lodge parking lot where the registration, demo and Mountain Shop van is set up. All competitors making the cut off time will ascend to the right of the Palmer snowfield near the climber’s route. Once at the top Skiers follow an on-contour traverse to the top of the Palmer Lift. Depending upon snow conditions (and potential grooming) skiers descend Willis Run, then traverse west toward area boundary above the Magic Mile lift to avoid normal skiers coming off the lift. Skiers continue the descent to skiers right of Coffel’s run to the top of Stormin Norman where skiers ride Lodge Getback all the way to the finish in front of the Timberline Lodge Parking lot.

ALL PEOPLE INTERESTED IN ALPINE TOURING ARE WELCOME!

In the morning we will host a guided Introduction to Alpine Touring. Pre-registration required. Brett Wessen and Libby Koroch head of Timberline Ski Patrol will take aspiring alpine tourers on a ski experience introducing them to the ups, downs, and in and outs of alpine ski touring. Please invite all of your friends and family you want to introduce to Alpine Touring or Ski Mountaineering Racing! Alpine touring gear is available to rent at Mountain Shop. The shop is offering a discount on rental gear for the day making the experience easy and affordable. Proof of registration required. Call or visit the shop for more details!

J. Scott Winemakers Dinner at Silcox Hut

Thursday, March 28, 2019

J. Scott Cellars warehouse winery and Tasting Room is located in the Westside Warehouse District of Eugene, Oregon, with over 20 wines on the menu. Jonathan Scott Oberlander, winemaker and owner, loves to produce unique varietals as well as those regional favorites such as Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. How about some Rogue Valley Tempranillo or Columbia Valley (OR) Zinfandel or perhaps Rogue Valley Petite Sirah…just to name a few.

Timberline Lodge Executive Chef Jason Stoller Smith honed his food and wine pairing skills during the ten years he spent cooking in the Willamette Valley wine country prior to his tenure at Timberline. The six-course menu he’s created for this friendly collaboration highlights how a perfect pairing brings out the subtleties of the wine and enhances the overall experience. Add the magnificent setting of Silcox Hut, and you’ve got an evening that plays to all five senses.

$225.00 per person includes dinner, wine, snowcat transportation to Silcox Hut, and gratuity. Seating is limited to 24 lucky participants.

Please email or call (503) 272-3267 to make your J. Scott Winemakers dinner reservations
