Camp Transportation

All the information you need for a successful arrival and departure at camp...

Arrive and depart from Portland International Airport (PDX).
Arrive between 11am and 3pm.
Depart between 9am and 1pm.

Our airport camp staff is there to help your camper with their arrival and departure. Being a smaller camp is an advantage and we keep close tabs on all flights. We are prepared for flight changes, cancellations etc. We have a home base at the airport and all campers will receive information and phone numbers prior to their arrival.

Campers need to be comfortable moving through the airport. We have staff available at the airport during our arrival and departures but there may be short periods of time where they will wait in a designated area with other campers while campers are being escorted to their gate. Airport security will only allow those who are registered as unaccompanied to be escorted through security and to and from the gates.

We monitor all flights for delays and cancellations and one vehicle will always remain at the airport until all campers have arrived and are ready to head to the mountain. When you receive your arrival letter, it will contain both the camp cell phone number as well as our airport personnel cell phones and names. Additionally you will have the personal cell phone of the camp director.

Arrivals
Our staff will meet each camper at a designated baggage area that will be noted in your arrival letter. Portland International airport is a small airport that does not require transportation between terminals. All terminals feed into the same baggage claim area which is not a large area. We will have staff at a designated claim area so that they will be easy to find. From the baggage area our staff will assist with luggage and escort campers to the camp vehicle pick up area.

Each airline has different requirements for unaccompanied minors. Up until a certain age they require that you register your child as unaccompanied and you can opt to register them at any age. If you register your camper as unaccompanied it allows us to meet them at their gate and escort them to the baggage area. It also allows us to escort them on their return trip. We recommend this for any camper who has not traveled alone before or who has any hesitation.

We require that each individual child traveling in a group be registered as unaccompanied if you wish for them to be escorted to and from their gate.

Departures
A member of our camp staff will arrive ahead of or with the first van and will be available inside the terminal. Those registered as unaccompanied will remain with our advance staff while vehicles are being parked. If your camper is not registered as unaccompanied they will be dropped off at the entrance nearest to their airline carrier and we will let them know where the advance staff is located. Once our drivers have parked the vehicles they will also return to the terminal to assist campers with their departures.

All campers will have access to camp airport personnel throughout their check-in and boarding times.

Please call our office at 503-231-5402 if you have any questions about arrivals and departures.
