Timberline Announces Mountain Music Festival

timberline mountain music festivalContinuing the Labor Day music tradition of free live performances at Timberline’s historic outdoor amphitheater, RLK and Company, operators of Timberline, have again teamed up with the Boyd Coffee Company, Mt. Hood Brewing Co., and KINK Radio to host an all day Mountain Music Festival on September 7, 2015. This year’s lineup features an eclectic mix of roots-oriented Americana music performers who are all touring this summer with exciting new CDs.

Starting things off at 12:30 pm will be John Lilly, all the way from West Virginia. John’s original, classic and traditional country music is authentic and really rings true. From hidden masterpieces by Hank Williams, Jimmie Rogers and the Louvin Brothers to ancient folk ballads as well as creative originals, John Lilly presents music of unusual depth and sincerity. His new CD of solo performances is titled “Thinking About Weather”.

Liz Longley, originally from Philadelphia and now settled in Nashville, takes the stage at 2:00 pm. A recent Berklee School of Music graduate, her songs and singing style have been compared to Nanci Griffith, Paula Cole and Shawn Colvin. She was signed to Sugar Hill records in December and has just released a beautiful collection of eleven songs recorded in Nashville on a self-titled CD. She is also a wonderful live solo performer and no stranger to the festival scene and songwriting competitions. She has taken top prizes at the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship Competition, the International Acoustic Music Awards and the Rocky Mountain Folk Fest Songwriting Competition.

At 3:30 pm we are thrilled to introduce the four-piece indie folk band Darlingside. These guys have a sound rooted in folk music but one that is unique, youthful, modern and even cutting edge. Distinct voices and tight vocal harmonies blend with rich acoustic textures and rock instrumentation to produce catchy and memorable songs. These guys have been ripping it up on the festival circuit and were the talk of the Sisters Folk Festival last year. We are happy to welcome them back to Oregon’s Timberline Lodge stage. Darlingside’s new CD “Live at the Loft” captures this great live band.

The 5:00 – 6:30 pm headliner performance is by none other than the dynamic and venerable Jonathan Edwards. With fifteen albums to his credit including hits such as Sunshine (Go Away Today), Sometimes, Shanty, Don’t Cry Blue and Emma, Jonathan has thrilled audiences for four decades. Jonathan just released the stellar new CD, Tomorrow’s Child, produced by Grammy nominated Darrell Scott. Jonathan is joined on this new CD by Vince Gill, Shawn Colvin, Jerry Douglass and Allison Krauss. Warm as summer sunshine, real as the truth, intimate as a long overdue visit with friends…such is a Jonathan Edwards concert. Based in New England, Jonathan rarely tours the west coast, so we are thrilled to host him and invite you to join us!

This Labor Day music event is one of Timberline’s ways of celebrating this place and saying thank you to the people of Oregon. Bring your instrument and jam on the Lodge’s back “Pickin’ Patio.” Visit with various vendors, and enjoy the excellent atmosphere, food and beverage at Timberline’s Mountain Music Festival!
