Winter Weather Update – Get the Straight Scoop Here

Here’s the straight scoop, folks. So far this winter, Mother Nature has been a bit fickle. However, Timberline did pick up 10 inches of nice new snow this past Monday. We have a base of roughly 14 inches at the lodge level (6000 feet). There is snow in the trees, and it is beautiful here! Dress warmly. The air is crisp. Of course, be prepared for winter driving, but right now the roads are clear and it is a great time to visit Timberline to enjoy the refuge of the Lodge, the warmth of the fireplace, our cozy guest rooms, and our first class cuisine. You can also play in the snow and get that fantastic Christmas Card picture! It is a special time of year here. The Lodge is getting decorated for the holidays and next week we will bring in a 40 foot Christmas tree into the main lobby!

Okay skiers and snowboarders…I’ll cut to the chase. Timberline’s Palmer Snowfield is in great shape and offers some super scenery and awesome turns to skiers and riders of the First Order, that is to say people with high intermediate to advanced skill levels only. The Magic Mile and Palmer lifts are operating on a daily basis, weather permitting from 9 a.m .to 3 p.m. (The Magic Mile is open for Sky Ride and access to Palmer Only – skiing/riding from the top of the Mile down is not recommended at this point.) On the lower mountain, we’re also making snow and pushing nearby snow onto the Bruno’s Beginner’s Area in order to get some fun sliding open for beginners and young children. So there is something for everyone.

So that’s your report for the week of December 7th. Timberline does indeed have the only lift-served skiing anywhere in Oregon or Washington, but please check the website or call our SnoPhone at 503 222-2211 to confirm lift operation before coming up to ski. We know you’re anxious for more snow. So are we! Hang tight. It’ll be a great ski season. They say that “good things come to those who wait” and it looks like more snow is in the forecast for this weekend!
