Timberline continues to invest in on-hill and in-lodge innovations to exceed guest expectations in 2017

timberline pistenbully snowcats

Timberline consistently builds the best freestyle terrain and features on Mt Hood thanks to PistenBully and our parks crew.

Timberline Snowcat Purchases

In our continuing effort to provide a premier on-hill product, Timberline has committed to purchasing another new PistenBully snowcat for the upcoming season. The snow machines being used are the latest models with all the latest technology and are at the forefront of the snow grooming and terrain park building world. These machines prove their worth each and every night they hit the snow.

Some snowcat features include:

  • Snow depth measurement
  • Highest range of motion for shaping blades and tillers (which equates to better, more pronounced terrain features)
  • Latest tier 4 fuel efficiency and emission controls
  • Fleet management software that tracks individual production of each snowcat including:
    • Fuel consumption and efficiency
    • Acres groomed /hour (efficiency)
    • Ski trail percentage groomed
    • Idle time vs production time (meaning any time a cat is not moving it’s not working)

Timberline HD Webcams and Snow Stake

Timberline is installing all new, high definition web cameras around the lodge and up on the mountain for guests to access real-time images of weather and conditions at the resort. These images will be continually updated on Timberline’s Webcams page. This a great way for guests to gauge what their experience may be before they head to the mountain. Additionally, Timberline is placing a Snow Stake and an accompanying web camera on the hill to measure real-time snowfall. The Snow Stake will be cleared once daily at 4:00PM.

y'bar remodel

2016/2017 Y’Bar Remodel in the Wy’Eat Day Lodge, complete with roll-up door to the patio.

Timberline Y’Bar Remodel

Timberline is thrilled to announce that Phase Two of our Wy’East Day Lodge food and beverage remodel will be complete just in time for the 2016/2017 ski season. Phase One, the remodel of the Wy’East Café, was finished last year before the season began. In a continued collaboration with Skylab Architects and Lorentz Bruun Construction, both based in Portland, Phase Two has included completely gutting and remodeling the Y’Bar to give it a great new look and a vibe that blends the coziness of an après ski lounge with the finishes and feel of a contemporary sports bar. The new Y’Bar will also feature an improved kitchen and food prep area designed to produce a selection of delicious, healthy, and hearty pub fare for active skiers and snowboarders. The central feature of the remodel is a large glass opening to the outdoor sun deck. A new bar top, dynamic lighting, large screen TVs, and a large aerial photo mural of Wy’East (the Native American name for the mountain) round out the bar’s new décor. Elsewhere on the mezzanine of the Day Lodge, we have added another fireplace for guests to relax and warm themselves.

With the launch of Timberline’s proprietary beef program last month, Executive Chef Jason Stoller Smith looks forward to featuring natural, sustainable, and local burgers in the Wy’East Cafe and Mt. Hood Brewing Co. this winter. These burgers are ground in-house. Timberline is proud to feature such a superior, lodge-made product in its casual, family-friendly restaurants. Our dedication to improving the ambience and services of the Wy’East Day Lodge is really paying off, and our customers are on the receiving end!

Timberline Lodge opens a retail store at Portland International Airport

Timberline at PDX

Last year, Timberline Lodge was awarded a lease to operate a retail store at the Portland International Airport. There were over 100 initial businesses interested in 12 spots. Jenna Stewart, Timberline’s Director of Retail Operations, led Timberline through the initial qualification process. It was her work that earned us the location.

The Timberline Lodge retail store at the Portland Airport is located in Concourse D. The store features a mix of  locally designed and printed apparel and jewelry, iron work, ceramics and glassware made by local artists and craftsman. We’ll also have some local snacks, wine, and candies. It opened the morning of November 18th. LEARN MORE
